Summer Transfers with Mountain Rides

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking in Tignes has become increasingly popular in the past few years. Boasting over 100km of trails, including a link over to Val D'Isere, and free lift passes, it is easy to see why. The mountain in 2014 is open from 28th June right through until 31st August and there really is something for everybody, whether you're into your downhill , endurance or cross country, all levels are catered for.

Beginners can get to grips with their bikes in the practice area before trying out their new found skills in the bike park on mellow trails such as 'Smoothie' and 'Easyride'.

For the more adrenaline enthusiasts amongst you, expert trails such as 'Black Metal' should definitely fulfil all of your danger needs!

There are 5 lifts open daily supplying access to the Espace Killy mountain bike area, giving you some of the most diverse riding conditions in the area as well as stunning views of the Tarentaise Valley. Trails range from steep downhills of 1km requiring full concentration to the more cruisy (but with uphill sections) 10km enduros, where a greater feeling of the wilderness can be experienced.

And just because its summer there's still plenty of skiing to be done on the glacier, offering 20km of pistes, snowpark and cross-country track. There are also plenty of deck chairs to soak up the sun and the incredible views of the surrounding glaciated peaks. Even if you don't fancy putting your skis on, pedestrian passes are also available for the funicular.

Back off the peak of the Grande Motte there are vast hiking trails in and around the surrounding mountains and for those of you who want to go further afield, there are refuges in the valleys offering a welcome break or even overnight catered stays.

Mountain biking also shares some of this terrain above and around the resort with a selected lift system offering access to the diverse and rugged landscape.

Back down in resort why not take a pedal boat out on the lake or cruise around the still waters on a catamaran. And for those of you who want to get into the lake the 'hot jumping slide' or the 'blob jump' is the activity for you! Even just take a lazy stroll around the lake and take a spot of lunch at 'Lo Terrachu.'

As well as all this, there are plenty of other activities within easy reach of Tignes in the summer months. White water rafting, kayaking, sport climbing, via ferrata and road biking to name but a few. Summer Skiing Tignes
